Dear Family and Friends,

“Be authentic to yourself, but if you must cheat, cheat yourself out of the lies the world created.”

~ Robert M. Drake

When the first year of Practitioner Studies was called Prac 1, an exercise often comes to mind. I remember sitting in the middle of Rev Cynthia’s living room floor, and all of the students were to partner up. The instruction was for Partner A to simply ask Partner B the question, Who Are You? Partner A would answer, and then Partner B would ask the same question again. This was to go on for approximately 2-3 minutes. Rev Cynthia instructed us to sit quietly and look at our partner if we finished before the time ended.

I recall sitting there a little hesitant and feeling vulnerable while my partner continually asked me, “Who Are You?” Thinking what other answers could possibly come through me. “I am a Realtor; I am a daughter; I am a sister; I am a friend; I am a student…A few others probably came through, but it ended with I am light, and I just sat there.

It is a moment that still comes to mind when feeling a little down. The truth is that we are all expressions of the same Light.

It is amazing how a seemingly simple exercise allows one to move from the surface to a place of depth, power, and authenticity. Like all of our jobs, my job is to allow that Light to shine brighter and brighter every moment while not getting caught up in the comparison because you can only shine your Light. With that being said, your Light can and does spark others to shine more brightly as well.

So today, I ask each of you, knowing that you are that Divine Light, How will you shine that Light a little more brightly? I would love to hear from you and support you in your shining more brilliantly than ever before.

Namasté,
Rev Staci Hylton
