“They will know us by our love”
John 13:35

Dear Friends and Family,

A few months back, Rev Cheryl and I decided that we would join forces in a different capacity to support the youth of our community. Last Saturday, we were able to see a plan come into manifestation, and we felt that it was a complete success. We partnered with our neighbor, SAFY (“Specialized Alternatives for Families & Youth), SAFY is an organization that does much good around the country to support foster families.

In all honesty, we have worked with them on a few events here and there, but they have always fallen a little short of my vision. This does not come from a place of ego, and it is not to blame anyone else. We felt we could be and do more to support our youth and young families. Finally, this year, it felt like we were active participants in giving our love and support to those in our Las Vegas community.

You might want to know what made this time different. I believe it isn’t just having a vision for something but expressing the expectation and being in full agreement and alignment that allows the vision to flow through. To be fully transparent, it can be frustrating to be a minister of a very powerful teaching and philosophy that does so much good for so many, and after over 100 years, very few know who we are. This past Saturday, those who stopped by for a backpack and some snacks got to feel and know who we are.

We had 22 families (Half of SAFY’s foster families), and at least 60 children joined us not just to get school supplies but joined us for snacks and photo ops. They may never come back here for our service, but they know that there is a place across the street from SAFY that loves them because they are worth our time and effort. In my mind, that is a step in the right direction for creating a world that works for all.

I appreciate everyone that helped us with school supplies, food, set up, clean up, and showing up. Thank you, SAFY, for allowing us to support you and all you do, and thank you to Commissioner Justin Jones for all the school supplies you supplied. Teamwork makes the Dream work!

Peace and Blessings
