“A Moment of Awe” Sharyn Kunde

The Power of Awe arises when we allow ourselves to be fully present with our senses of sight, sound, taste, touch and movement. Moments of Awe occur while observing a beautiful sunset or sunrise, wavey clouds, a starry night sky, a rainbow, the glistening and feel of fresh snow, the cool breezes in the desert air, the sounds of waves or a trickling brook, or the refreshment of a cool drink on a hot summer day, the savory of food and drink or a festive meal.

Awe brings a unique sense of interconnectedness from sharing a heartfelt experience in intimacy or with companions, family, pets, or a nod from a stranger.

Awe arises when an idea or concept becomes enlivened with perspective and relevance. A subtle, gradual, or major shift in our perceptual lenses changes our outlook, attitudes, or beliefs. The acceptance and acquisition of God in our life brings faith, trust, intuition, and direction, altering our life’s journey.

An Awe Moment directly affects mental and physical health. A culmination of Awe Moments reduces the inflammatory responses in our body and affects our mind and physical health in a positive manner.

My Moment of Awe With Nature

It rained early in the morning. My morning walk primed my senses to sights and sounds. The grass, trees, and bushes, resonating with the morning dew, clear raindrops, and water droplets pinging the ground, greeted my visual and sound senses.

I parked my car in the designated lot, and before my eyes, a gleaming bush adorned with a single vine of unknown grapes or berries. The colors of violet, purple, and lime are exquisite in various shades, textures, and sizes. Hints of violet streaking lightly in the light green. I breathed in its beauty, uncertain of its identity. The violet shades called my soul, filling my mind and physical sense with mystic beauty. I instinctively paused and merged with this gift of nature, feeling its vibration and instant connection to my Crown Chraka (God’s Eye). The Awe in recognizing oneness and connectedness to the Divine. I paused in recognition of the experience of unity of all life. I exhaled, feeling beauty, calm, peace, and gratitude. Nature’s gift of wild Oregon grapes growing in Georgia brought Simply AWE. Enjoy this Picture!

Awe Method:

Attention: Focus undivided attention on something you value and appreciate. Look at it closely and notice its textures, shapes, colors, light, and depth. Perhaps touch? Listen and observe your focused attention.

Wait: Pause. Breathe deeply while you gaze or sense the image or event that you appreciate!

Exhale: A full and deep Exhalation amplifies and expands the sensations that you are experiencing.
