Dear Friends and Family,

This past weekend has been a long time coming. If you recall, back in January, we began to discuss how to live happier lives. One of the ingredients to “happierness” is connection. As we age, most of us experience the loss of close friends due to illness and transition. It is a natural and normal process, yet how do we move toward “happierness” with less of our beloved friends and confidants? How do I find more connections?

This past weekend, as we celebrated the installation of our three newest ministers, the 23rd anniversary of our Center, and Rev Cheryl and my 10th anniversary as ministers, we decided to create the opportunity of not only re-connection with people that we may have not seen in a while but also a chance to connect with people that we may not know.

Reconnection is always fun, but the connection with people you already have something in common with (New Thought, CSL, etc.) can be fun and exciting. Arthur Brooks, who co-authored a book with Oprah Winfrey entitled The Art and Science of Getting Happier Build the Life You Want, says there are three micronutrients to happiness: enjoyment, Satisfaction, and Purpose. In an article, he states, “If you’re doing something that’s pleasurable and can be addictive [and] you don’t do it alone, then you can get enjoyment, which is a source of actual authentic and enduring happiness.”

I may be biased, but I believe this weekend provided all that chose to participate with those three micronutrients Arthur Brooks talks about (enjoyment, satisfaction, and purpose). The cherry on top was watching others and having the opportunity to connect with them through this experience. I must say that I am feeling re-fired and ready to aim for our next adventure as a proud member and minister at the Las Vegas Center for Spiritual Living.

Thanks to those of you who celebrated all the good works that have been done. Please know that with your contribution, there is more good in store for each of us. I claim that my good is to have more chances to create more “happierness” for all. Which would, in fact, “create a world that works for all.”

Peace and Blessings,
Rev Staci
