Dear Friends and Family,
Thank you to everyone who joined us last Sunday and supported our Mother’s Day service by sharing your time, talents, and treasure. I always appreciate having Daniel Namod with us, as his music deeply touches my heart and soul. I also especially appreciated his inclusive message about Mother’s Day.
For many people, this day is far more complex than greeting cards and movies suggest. As we grow older, we often come to understand that there were parts of our mothers’ lives and experiences we may never have fully known, and that may have shaped their ability to live up to society’s expectations.
Whatever your relationship with your mother may be, I hope we can remember that she did, or is doing, the best she can. And if she had known better, she might have done better. It is not easy to live up to an ideal you were never shown, especially when the only examples are often unrealistic ones from television.
Thank you again to the Men of Unity, the Women of Unity, all of our volunteers, and everyone who purchased concert tickets. It was a meaningful day, and I am grateful we were able to celebrate mothers with honesty and authenticity.
Peace and Blessings,
Rev. Staci
