Dear Family and Friends,
“You want a revolution? I want a revelation. So listen to my declaration. We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal. And when I meet Thomas Jefferson, I’m going to compel him to include women in the sequel.”
(Sung by Angelica Schuyler in Hamilton)
It’s the last day of June, and the past few weeks have revealed much about who we are as a country. Let’s be honest, the past several years have revealed to many people globally who we are as a nation. Admittedly, Friday was no surprise to me, not because of the leak a month or two ago. Still, I had stated this would be our narrative way back in 2016. I am neither a pessimist nor a prophet; however, I watch, listen, and feel beyond what is presented. I often say to Rev Cheryl that I am suspicious, and it really isn’t that but more of a sensitivity to that which is out of alignment.
In my humble opinion, the overturning of Roe vs. Wade speaks to control over women’s bodies, us having to abide by traditional Christian views, and not honoring what most Americans want for themselves, their wives, partners, daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters. In other words, the people in America are not in alignment with who we truly are and who some want us to be. So, this might very well be the beginning of a wave of laws that support the old ways of thinking.
On the other hand, the good news about this decision is that it affects everyone. It isn’t about just people of color, a person’s orientation, those with lesser means, or even just women. So, my question for myself and to each of you is, are you in alignment with who you say you are? Are you in alignment with what you say you believe? Because what I truly know is that when I am, then things flow effortlessly.
I must think the thought and the manifestation is almost instantaneous. I want, more than anything, peace in my life and to live in a nation that establishes justice and ensures domestic tranquility, provides for the common defense, promotes the general welfare, and secures the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity. I align myself with those beautiful words knowing that if we truly do that for all, we will have the revelation, and we won’t need a revolution to be the great nation we are meant to be. Happy 4th of July!
Shout out to Dr. David Alexander (Spiritual Living Center in Atlanta) and Rev Abigail Schairer (CSL Seattle) for the beautiful ceremony I presented last Sunday. It touched my heart, and I hope it touched yours.
