“There is something in every one of you that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in yourself. It is the only true guide you will ever have. And if you cannot hear it, you will all of your life spend your days on the ends of strings that somebody else pulls.”
― Howard Thurman
The above-referenced quote by Howard Thurman speaks to the idea of listening to that still, small voice and checking in with it about what is right and perfect for you (and what might not be). This past Easter Sunday, I asked you a question about what Easter means to you at this time in your life.
I really “hope” that each of you reading this decides to listen to that inner guide so that you will find yourself always moving toward the next iteration of yourselves. What works one holiday, one birthday, one day, one moment may not be what one desires the next go-round. I have found that checking in with myself more often provides me with information that allows for my happierness.
I celebrated last Sunday with many things that consistently bring me joy (such as our Sunday Service, friends, and Easter Brunch), as well as doing something that I had never done before (enjoying a performance on a holiday). For me, the idea of doing something familiar with something new was what my soul desired. So, I trust that you all answered the question and had the exact experience that resonated with your soul. If not, I hope you decide to make a different choice for next year.
If I can support you in any way, please reach out. Life is too short to live a life that does not speaks to your soul.
