Dear Family and Friends,

I trust that each of you celebrated Earth Day this past Monday, April 22. CSL put a lot of time, energy, talent, and treasure into our first official sacred activism event. I watched and listened to the prayer-a-thon and the webinar that CSL’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee hosted. I thought they did an amazing job. If you would like more information, check out our happenings table here at LVCSL for links to more resources. I want to send Much love and appreciation to Practioner Cathy Beatty and Practitioner Gary Alaimo for their presentations on Sunday morning. Thank you to Rev Sandy, who also wrote a little something to share with us..

Namasté,

Honoring Mother Earth and
All the Beings that Reside on Her

Rev. Sandy Smith

Growing up, in my family, we all practiced honoring our planet in many ways. From the garden we planted in our back yard, for planting a tree every year, for making a compost heap to feed our plants with, and recycling everything imaginable, these were some of ways we honored mother earth.

The Indigenous people are individuals I admire. Their belief in Mother Earth and Father Sky, speak to truly being in touch with our planet, so that in the generations to come their children and grandchildren will still have an earth to enjoy. There is a project started by thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers, here is an excerpt from their website.

“The Grandmothers Wisdom Project is inspired by thirteen elder women known as the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers. We are committed to supporting all people reclaiming their relationship to Mother Earth, calling for a profound transformation in the heart, mind, and spirit.” @grandmotherswisdom

Many people all over the world have that same spark for caring about the world and doing their part to keep her safe. This involves looking for projects that are near to our hearts and recognizing that people from different countries have beneficial practices too. Sharing ideas between many nations will help in realizing our collective effort to better the earth and generate ideas for finding what is ours to do.
